Patrick House is a state-of-the-art facility built in 2008 that offers accommodation and support to 55 residents. It features spacious en-suite rooms, emergency call systems, expansive meeting places and dining amenities, and large verandahs and gardens. It is located near a supermarket, chemist, post office, bank, local medical center, and hospital and is a short drive from Cable Beach. Germanus Kent House provides high care and dementia specific services and 24-hour nursing care. It also offers short term respite accommodation. The facility was named after St John of God Sister Germanus Kent, who spent decades working with Aboriginal people in the North West and was concerned about the lack of aged care facilities for indigenous people. The facility opened in September 1991.
